Disabled people are less likely to take part in physical activity and sport with only one in six people playing sport regularly compared to one in three non-disabled people. LimbPower’s objective is to encourage amputees and individuals with limb impairments of all ages and all abilities to take up a physical activity, sport or arts based activity or to continue taking part in their pre-amputation activities post amputation.
Our events, activities, workshops, magazines, guides, toolkits and factsheets are designed to challenge and change this to enable disabled people to view taking part in sport as a viable lifestyle choice.
19% of attendees at LimbPower events want LimbPower to provide more local sport/physical activity.
To tailor LimbPower’s activities to the needs of our community we need to understand what the barriers to participation are and what the motivators to taking part are, we also want to understand if the work we are doing is making a different.
83% of people who have attended a LimbPower event took up a sport or exercise after their attendance.
