Candoco Dance Company

Candoco Dance Company is the contemporary dance company of disabled and non-disabled dancers.

At the heart of our work are our national and international productions, created by world-class choreographers for audiences to enjoy. Alongside these, through our Learning projects and activities we provide access to the highest quality of work for people participating in contemporary dance for pure enjoyment, or as part of a developing career.

We are a passionate, dedicated team of people and we want to show you what dance can be, and who can dance.

What are my options to participate?

With our Learning Programme we want to practically improve access to dance for disabled people. We offer a range of opportunities to take part and learn with us.

Youth Classes
Weekly dance classes for disabled and non-disabled young people aged 13 – 25 of all levels of experience. The classes encourage creativity and provide an opportunity to work with other keen dancers whilst learning contemporary technique.

International Summer Lab
Our International Labs are intensive programmes for disabled and non-disabled artists from different cultures and disciplines to exchange ideas and methodology. The Lab is an opportunity to work with professional artists to take risks, test new ideas and share practice facilitated and creatively informed by Candoco.

Dancer Development Days
Our Dancer Development Days give artists the opportunity to introduce themselves to the company, to undertake creative research and participate in choreographic exchange with other artists.

Company Class
When possible, we offer dancers the opportunity to join Candoco Dance Company for Company Class. The classes are taught by guest teachers and highly experienced Candoco Artists and provide a space where you can practically exchange with Candoco’s dancers.

What equipment do I need?

We are unable to supply equipment directly. Participants will only need the equipment they use day-to-day in order to take part.

What will it cost me?

Costs vary by activity. Please email hannah@candoco.co.uk to find out the costs associated with the activity most relevant to you.

How do I get involved?

Our programme has three distinct strands: Schools & Colleges, Youth Dance and Artists. These strands reflect the different ways we think you might want to engage with inclusive dance and our wider programme of activities. We can also run bespoke workshops for groups. Please do give us a call on 020 7704 6845 to discuss or email Learning Producer, hannah@candoco.co.uk, for further information.
